Carlsberg Carls Special is an amber lager beer with a slightly sweet character and distinct caramel taste, but still with a good balance with the bitter. The aftertaste is characterized by apple and blackcurrant, and the aroma has something toasty and caramel-like about it. 

Just as Carlsberg C47 was brewed for Carlsberg's 125th anniversary, the lager Carls Special was first brewed at Valby Bakke in 1994, as a celebration of Carlsberg's 150th anniversary. Despite Carls Special being over 25 years old, it continues to win beer awards for its delicious balance between hops and fresh fruit.

In the year 1847 in Valby, IC Jacobsen built the brewery Carlsberg named after his son Carl and 'berg', the German word for mountain, which symbolizes the location of the brewery on Valby Bakke.
