Braastad Cognac is named after Sverre Braastad, who was born in Gjøvik in Norway in 1879. He developed a passion for cognac over 100 years - until he died in 1979. When he took over Tiffon, where Braastad is produced, he set about developing the company, which today is run by son Robert and grandsons Antoine, Richard and Jan. Tiffon is today the largest family-owned producer in the Cognac district. According to the Cognac classification, a VS (Very Superior) Cognac must age for a minimum of 2 years in oak casks. Braastad VS includes cognacs aged between 2 and 4 years in Limousine oak casks in the family's cellars in Jarnac
